I just heard on the radio that Gore Vidal died at the age of 86. I had great admiration for Gore Vidal. Beyond a great writer, he was a great American who wrote about the betrayal of the American people by the fifth columnists, jackals and sellouts who populate our federal government better than any modern writer in memory. During the era of his famous "debates" with Norman Mailer on national TV, he showed the whole world what a superior person he was to Mailer in every possible category of comparison.
For many years he had lived in France, but I was happy to hear that he passed here, in the United States. He was one of our own, and I'm saddened to hear that he will no longer be with us to share his enormous intellect and wit. God Bless Gore Vidal.
