November 6, 2015[Editor's Note: I came across this App while researching for articles that debunk Fukushima radiation hysteria and alarmsim. I'm opposed to the use of Smart Phones due to its unacceptably high microwave radiation exposure, but since millions use it anyway, obtaining this App gives them a reasonably accurate idea of how much ionizing radiation is in their environment. It only costs $5.]

We have collected many videos using the App, see our video section. The development was accomplished due to the Japan Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster.
Disclaimer: The type of radiation picked up by the camera can be dangerous/detrimental to the user's health as well as cause damage to the device.
The REAL RadioactivityCounter App is working on Android devices and Apple iOS mobile phones/tablets, based on their internal camera sensors. NO EXTRA hardware is be required.
This App is not one of those numerous “fun apps”, but a true, really working radiation detector. We already did measurements for certain devices using professional equipment at the Helmholtz Research Center Munich, the scale we used for testing starts at 2-10 µGy/h up to 10 Gy/h (about 10Sv/h) with the latest measurements. More infos and instructions are now available on video. Updated infos about how to cover the lenses. We work on radiation measurements below 1 µSv/h. See FAQ pages for information on what can be measured and what is difficult or cannot be measured. Please have a look at our video on the adjust menu, we will make this calibration procedure much easier in the near future. The iOS update 1.1 now available with support for iPhone 5 and front and backcam precalibrated. New update coming soon. Attention you need to cover the lense ALL THE TIME when using the APP. Check the data tables for the Android devices used for converting the CPM values to a radiation value (in µGy/h - set in the ADJUST MENU) for some of the devices (Android) we have tested (otherwise please send us an e-mail). See here for an extended help with more images than available in the RadioactivityCounter Application's built in help. RadioaktivitätsZähler App für Android und Apple iOS. Dabei wird der Kamera Sensor verwendet, um die eintreffende Strahlung (Gamma und Beta) zu messen. Es ist keine der vielen Spaß-Apps, die es auf dem Markt so gibt. Wir haben auch die Möglichkeit, an einer professionellen Anlage (Helmholtz Zentrum München) mit Strahlenquellen zu arbeiten und die Handys im Bereich von 1 µSv/h - 1 Sv/h (10 Sv/h) bzw. 1 µGy/h - 1 Gy/h zu messen und damit die Zuordnung zwischen Counts und Dosisleistung durchzuführen. Achtung: es wird bei vielen Geigerzählern die beliebte Einheit Sv/h verwendet, die aber von vielen Faktoren abhängig ist, wie der Strahlenart (z.B. Cs-137), des Gewebes usw. - bei uns wird daher die Einheit Gy (Gray) verwendet, die bei Beta- und Gamma-Strahlung im wesentlichen vom Wert her mit Sv (Sievert) vergleichbar (QF=1) ist, aber realistischer angezeigt werden kann. Sie finden die Zuordnungen in der Tabelle zusammengestellt. Sollte Ihr Handy nicht dabei sein, bitte eine E-Mail senden. Auch kann es sein, dass Ihr Handy, obwohl es in der Tabelle steht, abweichende Werte benötigt (Bauteiltoleranzen, andere Bauteile). Bei starken Abweichungen bitte auch eine E-Mail senden, damit wir das nachprüfen können. Werte unter 1 - 10 µGy/h sind mit Handys nur bei sehr langen Messzeiten zu erfassen. Aber als Hinweis: ein Flug in 10km Höhe exponiert einen mit ca. 10 µGy/h (ca. 10 µSv/h - davon ein hoher Anteil Neutronen- und Myonenstrahlung). Messungen bei ca. 7 km Höhe haben bereits Erfolg versprechende Werte ergeben (ca. 1 µSv/h). Achtung manche Handys sind recht unempfindlich und eher nicht geeignet wir haben sie in der Tabelle rot markiert. Für iOS Benutzer sind die Tabellen bereits in der App gespeichert. Infos hier.
