Training Seminar NOTICE

RITUALISTIC ABUSE
Hope for the Future

A four (4) hour course for survivors of ritualistic abuse, therapists, counselors, clergy and other health and human services workers from the perspectives of survivors of ritualistic abuse working in their professional capacities along with other professionals, to advance public dialogue and greater understanding of these issues. This course is third in a series of ongoing trainings on ritualistic abuse.

Sponsored by The San Diego Pastoral Counseling Center at St. Paul's Episcopal Cathedral

In conjunction with The American Association of Pastoral Counselors-Pacific Region

When: Saturday, June 21, 2003, 8:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. (Registration & continental breakfast begin at 8:00 a.m.)

Where: 2728 Sixth Ave., San Diego at St. Paul's Episcopal Cathedral

Cost: $45 early registration (by June 16), $55 after June 16, and $10 for CEUs (except CADAAC). Survivor discount is available.


COURSE HIGHLIGHTS

* Survivor/survivor advocate will describe the different advocacy roles available to survivors and the empowering that such involvement brings.

* A survivor who has worked with other survivors over 10 years outlines the progression of healing, offering hers and others' experiences that the pain does end.

* A licensed therapist will share her experiences working for years as a mental health professional to discover she is both DID and a ritualistic abuse survivor, and how she translated her training and healing to help other survivors.

* Former national child abuse hotline supervisor and director of a survivor program will tell how she and her staff learned about ritualistic abuse from the hundreds of survivors who taught them.

* Survivor panel will introduce a peer support group now operating successfully over one year.

CEUs:

4 course hours for the following licenses/certifications:

MFT, LCSW, CAADAC, Pastoral Counselors, clergy. Approval for Clinical Psychologists is pending.

CEUs are provided by the American Association of Pastoral Counselors-Pacific Region.

Refunds: For cancellation through June 16, 2003, there will be a full refund less a $10 processing fee. There will be no refund for cancellation after June 16, 2003, or for non-attendance.

Directions: St. Paul's Cathedral is located at 2728 Sixth Ave. between Olive and Nutmeg, directly across from Balboa Park. There is plenty of street parking available. To get to the Guild Room, either enter through the Sixth St. entrance. It is the first room on the right as you walk through the gate, or enter through the Fifth St. courtyard and walk to the back courtyard.

Driving from the north, take the 163 south. Exit at University, the first exit south of I-8. The exit ramp is long. At the first light, the exit ramp becomes Sixth St. Go straight on Sixth and St. Paul's will be several blocks further on the right.

Driving from the east, take I-8 west to the 163 South and from there follow preceding directions.

Driving from the south, take I-5 north to the 163 north and exit at Quince. The Quince exit winds around through the park and the first light you come to is Sixth. Turn left on Sixth and the Cathedral will be 3 blocks on the right.
