Subject: a serene moment from a readerKen,
Greetings. I had a peaceful and serene moment recently that I still find amazing and I thought you may enjoy the story.
While working in my garage, I noticed a bird walking along my chain link fence that leads to my backyard and garage. I ignored the bird and continued on with what I was doing. Later, I came out of my garage and the bird was still pacing my gate. It was sticking its head here and there trying to get in, so I thought I'd approach the bird and it would fly away.
As I walked closer, the bird stood there at the gate entrance. I opened the gate and the bird hobbled right in. I found this amazing!! I walked slowly back to my garage and this bird walked with me side-by-side. It followed me into my garage where I watched it while still cleaning, etc. It walked around my garage checking out my stuff...never seeming to be scared or concerned.
For the fun of it, I actually spoke to the bird as if we were having a conversation...and no, it didn't speak back. I got it a piece of bread and a cup of water which it found interest in. Anyway, it hung out with me for an hour or so and as the sun started to go down for the night and as the sun's rays shined on this bird, I noticed that its grey body and white and grey feathers had wonderful colors. Its neck had a teal colored ring of feathers at the top and the bottom was a ring of purple feathers. I thought it was a pigeon....long black beak, long legs and talons along with the charcoal grey body.
After some time, it looked at me as to say good bye. I followed it down my driveway side by side so it wouldn't get hit by a car. It then crossed my street into the grassy median which was a safe spot and I never saw it again.
This was a very peaceful moment for me. For some reason, for this moment, I slowed my life down to spend some time with a bird and I really enjoyed it.
Peace, S.P..
