Act Today! Fax Your Senator to Vote "No" on S510, Food 'Safety' Bill (Nov. 18, 2010)

I just checked on the status of Senate bill S 510, the FDA Food Safety Modernization Act, and found that on November 17, 2010, the US Senate voted 74 in favor and 24 against cloture of this bill. That means that the time allowed for debating the bill is severely limited, making it impossible to filibuster the bill and prevent it from going to a vote. Obviously, those who voted against cloture are more interested in seeing the bill debated, while the 74 senators who voted in favor of cloture, are more interested in seeing the bill go to a vote with a minimum of discussion or no discussion. The senators for voted Yea or Nay are listed further below.

I can't remember a bill which has proven to be less popular and undesired by the American people than S-510, yet it's apparently still being supported by a large majority of US senators. The 74 senators who voted in favor of cloture will likely be the same senators who will vote in favor of passing the bill and it it these senators to whom you should most strongly direct your Faxes and express your desire for a "no" vote on S-510

I have an organic farmer friend and he definitely is aware of the political aspect of food and agriculture as he has been fighting for his freedom for years now. I received this email from him just a few minutes ago.

Please make your voice be heard with your state senators.

"If people let the government decide what foods they eat, and what medicines they take, their bodies will soon be in as sorry a state as are the souls of those who live under tyranny." ~Thomas Jefferson

The Senate is going to vote on S.510 this week.

Now is the time to contact your Senator directly [email and phone call], and also sign the petition below.

Please ask them to Vote No on S.510 !!!

S.510 the so-called "Food Safety Modernization Act", is the bill that is going to make gardening, and sharing food a crime that could cost you your property.

It will make farmer's markets illegal.

It will make the saving, or sharing of seeds illegal.

http://foodfreedom.wordpress.com/2010/04/24/s-510-is-hissing-in-the...

S 510, the Food Safety Modernization Act, may be the most dangerous bill in the history of the US

1. It puts all US food and all US farms under Homeland Security and the Department of Defense, in the event of contamination or an ill-defined emergency

2. It would end US sovereignty over its own food supply by insisting on compliance with the WTO, thus threatening national security.

3. It would remove the right to clean, store and thus own seed in the US, putting control of seeds in the hands of Monsanto and other multinationals, threatening US security

4. It deconstructs what is left of the American economy. It takes agriculture and food, which are the cornerstone of all economies, out of the hands of the citizenry, and puts them under the total control of multinational corporations

S, 510 is hissing in the grass

S. 510, the Food Safety Modernization Act, may be the most dangerous bill in the history of the US. It is to our food what the bailout was to our economy, only we can live without money.

"If accepted [S 510] would preclude the public's right to grow, own, trade, transport, share, feed and eat each and every food that nature makes. It will become the most offensive authority against the cultivation, trade and consumption of food and agricultural products of one's choice. It will be unconstitutional and contrary to natural law or, if you like, the will of God." ~Dr. Shiv Chopra,

Canada Health whistle blower
